Over the years, there has been a steady pattern of trade, development and growth between Europe & Asia. As a result, the two economies have become increasingly interlined and Asia has become one of Europe’s largest trading partners.  The European Union which today consists of 27 member states, provides a sea of untapped trade potential.

While  relations between the European Union and Sri Lanka date back to the year 1975; trade relations between individuals EU member countries such as France, Germany,  Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden  & the United Kingdom date back years. These conventional markets & the new member state markets have to-date not been tapped to its maximum potential and the European Union as a single market could provide Sri Lanka a wealth of trade potential and economic sustainability.

An initiative of The European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, EUROPEAN CATALOGUE EXHIBTION 2009 is scheduled to take place in Colombo, on the 5th, 6th & 7th May 2009,  to celebrate the 52nd - “Europe Day” and will coincide with the “EU Sri Lanka Business Summit” scheduled for the 5th of May 2009.  It is as initiative to stimulate, develop and strengthen business links between each European Union member state and Sri Lanka by way of trade, investment, transfer of technology, joint ventures, sales and marketing cooperation and a host of other activities and facilities.
